Is anyone else tired of watching hours of worthless coverage on OJ, Anna Nicole, Paris, etc.? It seems like when something happens to these "famous people" we have to sit through days and weeks of coverage on Fox, CNN, MSN, etc.
I would really like to know what is going on in the world and not have to watch this garbage. And for those who think Fox is different, think again.
What worries me is that people must be enthralled by this coverage or these news programs wouldn't do this type of non-stop coverage. Anybody else sick of this like me?Do the major news networks live for these worthless stories?
Yes, they love tabloid style trash. They are all competing for the same demographic, which is basically the lowest common denominator. The US media, not coincidentally, is controlled by a handful of corporations who put profit above public service.
That's the bad news. The GOOD news is that we have the internet. I have found wonderful sources for news that interests me and goes into depth AND I am able to avoid OJ, Anna Nicole, Paris, Maddy, etc. etc. Television 'news' ratings have been falling for a while now and the bottom is not yet in sight. The networks are increasingly forced to depend on people too ignorant to use a computer. Viva internet.

This is for yadadoe: NPR can cover an old lady taking a walk in her garden and make it into a 2 hour peice. They cover the mundane to death. Not saying it's worse than networks but just as bad at least. We have an am radio station in town that does a pretty good job running down the news every hour. No garbage.

so today when i turned to CNN on tv theres a countdown on the right hand side when where "Live CNN" logo is. Im just wondering what this is counting down to.. as of now it says "32 Days.. 16 hrs..."What is CNN counting down to?

It all depends on what kind of bomb it is and where it is. If the bomb was placed next to a village or something that they did not want to get destroyed they may have tried to dis arm it rather than blow it up. The other possibility is that they may have under estimated what kind of bomb it was and not put enough distance between them and the bomb. Or they may have been setting the charges near the bomb to blow it up, and they could have bumped the bomb and blown it up setting the charges. There are so many possibilities of how or why they got killed, it is imposable to know with out being there.
Also they may have been killed by a different bomb all together. One tactic that terrorists are using is that they set up 2 or 3 bombs, and then when the US finds one and backs up away from the bomb there is anther one sitting next to where they normally back up to....and boom... they get blind sided by a second bomb.

I just saw on cnn live at 6:05 that isreal wants to attack iran's nuclear facility and that isreal compares iran to nazi germany. And iran said if they attack they will take measure's to cease their existence or something along those lines. And cnn said they may or could do this within days or hours when they get a green light to go. Sorry if I misinterpreted or heard wrong. But does this mean we may have nuclear war soon?Is nuclear war about to take place?

My other thoughts are: We need a system so people know how to report it when this stuff happens, and who to report it to. I had someone frighten me and I didn't know HOW to get them help. How do you get someone help if you don't know where they live, their name, even what flippin country they are in or state? It's really hard to know what to do. You can write the website whatever it is (myspace, multiply, yahoo ) but you might wait a whole day for an answer. So what do we do when someone needs help? We need to know what should be done in these circumstances. Someone should make it clear HOW to get help. It is a sad commentary on our society that people watched and no one responded sooner to help by notifying authorities who have the ability to trace the location and help.
If the hosting website was aware of what was occurring and failed to act they should be held both criminally and civilly responsible.
I think it is horrible. Horrible that a person can be in so much pain that he felt suicide was the only option. Horrible that people encouraged him. Horrible that the people close to him did not see his need for help

reminds me of a movie i saw before
Sick. I'm sure there is nothing "interesting" about watching someone die, we see it in movies all time. Only on this webcam, its real. What you'd be watching is the same. So I cant see why anyone would want to watch something like that. Nothing spectacular and never seen before.
As far as the suicidal kids... you have your whole life ahead of you. I'd run away a zillion times before I end my life. The way I see it - if youre so far at the end of your rope, who cares what other people think? I'd say eff em all and just have fun with my life. It's a very sad thing, I must say. No matter what the children committed suicide for, it wasn't worth what they got, because all they were "rewarded" with is a sad family that they now know nothing of, and a one way ticket to hell.

Teen suicide has been with us since Romeo and Juliet. Just had a teen killed here last year by two others, who wanted to see first hand, what it looked like to see someone die.
Sad, just a really sad event to see a young life wasted.
That's absolutely sickening. How could people be so cruel and think its so funny to watch someone die!? Thats horrbile, and those kids will have to live the rest of their lives knowing they were partially responsible for encouraging an innocent person's death.
