I choose to listen to NPR on my drive from and to work and feel they are a bit better than CNN or other biased news organizations.. Although I believe NPR is also biased to Obama...
Why do we have to live with such biased news coverage over the election??
Don't we deserve more "un-biased" news reporting in what is supposed to be the "best" nation in the world? Why is do we the Americans have to live with CNN and other crappy biased reporting?
it still a free country. if you dont like what you see or hear on one station or if you think they are biased, change the station and dont listen to them anymore.
It always amuses me that the idea of balance in american journalism is presenting an issue from the 'democrat' and the 'republician' viewpoint.
There is never the idea that other viewpoints exist, especially in overseas reporting. Why is do we the Americans have to live with CNN and other crappy biased reporting?
The "best" nation is the world is run by whoever pays the most. It's sad, but true. Kinda a helpless feeling huh? Sorry to be so down : (Why is do we the Americans have to live with CNN and other crappy biased reporting?
I agree with your complaint. But it doesn't stop after election time.
We have to live with biased reporting because that is the engine driving their ratings. Whether CNN, FOX, NPR, etc. their format has changed to accommodate the economics of broadcasting.
Years ago I used to watch CNN when it was a real news channel. Then in desperation they changed to what could only be called "the hot babes" reporting format.
Now, in my opinion, they've gone to sensationalism over content.
I don't know if FOX was ever a legitimate news source, but their slogan "fair and balanced reporting" reminds me of a famous quote:
“If you tell a big enough lie and tell it frequently enough, it will be believed”-Adolph Hitler.
Maybe someday we can get back to unbiased reporting.
partly due to the fact that the media ownership has shrunk due to mergers etc...
gone are the days of real news and reporting facts that matter.
now we get onesided news and often get celeb, tabloid news to fill there void.
bottom line is they fill air time with whatever serves there need and objectives to voice there views.
Wow, talk about a can-of-worms question.
Here's one little comment, though: Check out Bill Moyers' "Buying the War." (That's "buying" as in, Congress bought the case for going to war hook, line, %26amp; sinker.) It's about how we couldn't have gone to war without the lemming-like, unquestioning consent and support of the press. You can watch the video online, or if you don't have time, perhaps you can just skim the summary. The link is below.
P.S. As to whether we deserve unbiased news reporting... sometimes one just has to dig and dig and dig through the crap to find real reporting that's based on real, first-hand research (i.e. not just regurgitated garbage).
